to bring interestingly unique and functional hand crafted products
to the European market place at unbeatable prices without compromising
quality.
We also guarantee that to achieve such prices all of the oriental
factories manufacturing for us utilise ethical work practices towards
their staff in an acceptable working environment. Under no circumstances
are bonded, forced, convict or child labour used in any way shape
or form. Instead to save you money we just remove all import and export
middle men whose margins go to push such product prices beyond normal
reach.
Originally these beautiful items were used
very commonly throughout China for the storage of clothing, particularly
valuable silks. Some of the internal surfaces of the trunks would
be impregnated with camphor which is a softly aromatic naturally
occurring white crystaline substance extracted from special plants.
Camphor apart from being pleasantly fragrant also exhibits some
antiseptic properties and hence protected the clothing stored within
the trunks from the ravages of moths and alike. Unfortunately this
is a tradition that has long since been lost, however, we have chosen
to continue this tradition upon all of our trunks.
